FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Here is a selection of questions you might want to ask yourself before making a reservation or heading out on an activity:
GENERAL QUESTIONS:
Are there any risks?
Like all outdoor sports, canyoning involves risks. Navigating a river is a bit different from spending an afternoon on the couch watching Netflix. But rest assured, all our trips are led by state-certified instructors who know the area inside and out and can therefore offer you an activity with minimal risk.
I'm a beginner—can I practice?
It’s no problem at all to come try this activity, even if you’ve never done it before. Our “Half-Day Canyoning” packages are perfectly suited for anyone who wants to ease into canyoning. We offer you the chance to explore New Caledonia while enjoying a fun and educational experience. You don’t have to be Mike Horn or Superman to have a great time doing something fun and active.
Are the jumps required?
Don't panic—NONE of the jumps are mandatory!!! There's always a way around it if you don't want to do any jumps.
The highest jumps are about 10 meters in some of our canyons. However, keep in mind that the guide has the final say regarding whether you attempt these jumps and whether you are free execution of these jumps. If your guide does not feel you are capable of performing them or if he advises against it, you are and will remain in control of your own actions.
The goal is to enjoy yourself and have fun throughout the descent without putting yourself in danger.
What equipment do you use, and how do you adapt it?
When you make your reservation, you’ll have the option to provide all of your group’s measurements on our website or by phone. This includes height (in centimeters), weight (in kilograms), and shoe sizes. Once we have this information, it will allow our guides to prepare the neoprene gear that best fits each person.
We provide each participant with: neoprene wetsuits (long johns and jackets), neoprene socks, harnesses, and helmets.
Please be specific, and feel free to contact us if you have any special requests.
What should I bring for the activity?
For the canyoning activity, you’ll need very little equipment: a swimsuit, a towel, and a bottle of water for all participants.
We also ask that you bring sneakers for hiking through the canyon and swimming: Don't worry—your sneakers love to swim!!!
(Depending on the weather, your guide may ask you to bring rain gear so you can stay dry during the approach hike.)
Do you take photos during the activities?
Our guides take lots of photos and sometimes a few videos during the activities. These will give you wonderful memories—and maybe even help you become a top social media influencer.
How can I retrieve my photos after my activity?
Your photos will be sent to the email address you provided when you made your reservation via the "WeTransfer" website. After your outing, you will receive your photos by email within 5 to 7 days.
(If you made a reservation without providing an email address, we can send you your photos via private message on social media.)
What is the maximum number of people per group?
It depends on the canyon and the activity you'd like to book. On average, groups consist of 8 to 10 participants (with 10 being the maximum number).
